ABOUT Zhengcui Guo, also known as "Jan" or "Guoguo", was born in Jingdezhen, China in the 1970s. Jingdezhen is considered the world Capital of Ceramics, since thousands of porcelain artists live in this city where various kinds of pottery and porcelain painting were first developed. It has a famous Museum of Ceramics and is home to the only ceramics university in the world. Jan was born into a famous artist family, and her parents and sister are art professors at the Jingdezhen Ceramics University. Both of Jan's parents are renowned masters of traditional Chinese porcelain painting, and are frequently featured in Chinese media. As a young woman, Jan was determined to find her own path, and moved to the far north of China to study construction design. She later enjoyed many opportunities collaborating with architects in the fields of exterior and interior design, with a specialization in urban color design. Still, although Jan tried for many years to leave the world of Fine Arts behind, she kept finding that a creative curiosity led her to produce original art, but in a non-traditional style. Today Jan's artworks feature unusual juxtapositions of textures and colors, often implying multiple dimensions. "Jan's paintings are absolutely unique and mesmerizing. I am diving in these endless lines and fantasy geometry" - Olga Koelsch
